LENA Start | Free PPLD Series on How Talk Builds Babies’ Brains (Thursdays)
Apr 15 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

LENA Start is a FREE 10-week program for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-32 months. At weekly Zoom sessions, parents and caregivers will learn how talk builds babies’ brains and how to increase conversational turns with their babies and toddlers. As part of this program, parents receive 10 free books, incentives, and more! Registration is required. Our next two sessions are:

  • Tuesdays from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. starting March 30 – June 1, 2021
  • Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. starting April 1 – June 3, 2021

We will have an additional two sessions during the summer.

  • Tuesdays from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. starting June 15 – August 17, 2021
  • Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. starting June 17 – August 19, 2021

Registration for the summer sessions will open May 1.

Parenting Little Ones | PPLD Series
Apr 15 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

PPLD’s Family Place Libraries is hosting a five-week series on Zoom where caregivers can ask questions of community professionals in the fields of child development, nutrition, speech/language, and more. This series will take place each Thursday in April from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. Registration is required. Parents and caregivers register for each session separately.

Weekly winners will be awarded a $50 gift card from their choice of store: King Soopers, Walmart, Target, or Barnes & Noble. Each session participants attend counts as one entry into the grand prize drawing. Participants may earn up to five entries. Participant must provide a valid PPLD library card number so El Paso County, CO residency can be confirmed.

  1. Speech & Language: This week’s resource professionals are Brenda Anderson, a Speech-Language Pathologist; Donna Moore, a Speech-Language Pathologist; and Elan Saitas, a Lazos Musicales, Connection Through Music Instructor. They are able to talk about and answer question about Speech & Language Development and Second Languages. We will be giving out one gift card to participants at this session!

Behavior, Development, & Potty Training: This week’s resource professionals are Paula Hergert, a Prevention & Policy Specialist with the El Paso County Health Department and Windy Doan, a Behavorial Health Supervisor with CPCD Head Start. They are able to talk about and answer question about Behavior, Development, & Potty Training. We will be giving out one gift card to participants at this session!

Music & Process Art: This week’s resource professionals are Gabby Seeger, Sound Beginnings Instructor; Sukie Jackson, Process Art expert formerly with Ruth Washburn Coop Nursery School; and Jordan Romero, PPLD Senior Library Associate, Family & Children’s Services. They are able to talk about and answer question about Music and Process Art. We will be giving out one gift card to participants at this session!

  4. Nutrition & El Paso County HCP: This week’s resource professionals are Karen Beers, a Registered Dietician; Amber Travis, a Registered Dietician; and Anita Walters, HCP Care Coordinator. They are able to talk about and answer question about Nutrition and HCP. We will be giving out 1 gift card to participants at this session!

Positive Solutions for Families | Free Class! @ Zoom Conference

New class series begins in March! Classes are 12 – 2 pm on Tuesdays via Zoom.

Our Positive Solutions for Families team at The Resource Exchange is delighted to serve your family by providing you the skills to help you feel more prepared to handle even some of the most challenging behaviors you may encounter along your parenting journey. This seven-week training course is intended to help you gain a more meaningful relationship with the people you love, expand knowledge and understanding of your own experiences, and continue to build a strong, loving, and mutually respectful relationship with your child. We understand that making this time commitment may not be easy, but we thank you in advance for making your family a priority. We are looking forward to meeting you virtually!
