POSITIVE SOLUTIONS FOR FAMILIES
AN INTRO TO ACES AND BUILDING RESILIENCY
We are pleased to offer a 7-session training that will empower families to promote children’s social and emotional skills, understand problem behavior, and practice the use of positive approaches to help children learn. Parents will be given key strategies to use with all children. Training materials will be provided. In addition, we will explore the neuroscience related to our own development for a better understanding of how we engage with our children.
MAR 4 – SESSION 1: MAKE A CONNECTION: Building relationships, quality time, positive
comments, and encouragement.
MAR 11 – SESSION 2: MAKING IT HAPPEN: Play as a powerful parenting practice; developing friendships.
MAR 18 – SESSION 3: ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES: Brains are built not born.
APR 1 – SESSION 4: WHY THEY DO THAT: Make your expectations clear and develop household rules.
APR 8 – SESSION 5: TEACH ME WHAT TO DO: Emotional vocabulary, managing strong emotions, problem
solving, and handling disappointment.
APR 15 – SESSION 6: FACING THE CHALLENGE PART 1: Strategies to promote positive behavior.
APR 22 – SESSION 7: FACING THE CHALLENGE PART 2: Problem-
solving and tools to address challenging behavior.
